Best Melatonin

When buying melatonin supplements, it is just normal to look for the best melatonin source out there. Most of the time we buy our melatonin supplement from the nearby health shop and for those who are very busy, we usually buy them from online stores like bodybuilding.com and amazon.com. Of course we do not want to waste our money on a melatonin brand that is not of high quality. So what is the best melatonin? The best melatonin is of course coming from a reputable brand. Reputable food supplement brands make sure that you get the exact amount of melatonin for every capsule or tablet. They also make sure that their melatonin source is free from biological or chemical contaminants.

The production of melatonin can be contaminated by heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium and mercury. Biological contaminants like bacteria, viruses, mold and fungi spores can also contaminate melatonin supplements. A very clean environment is necessary to pack and repack melatonin supplements. Of course reputable melatonin manufacturers are equipped with hygienic packing areas and well trained staff. Food supplements are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration so we always need to make sure that we get it from reputable brands.

Reputable brands of melatonin include Natrol, NOW, Doctor’s Best, Schiff, GNC, Optimum Nutrition, Source Naturals and LEF. Melatonin coming from these manufacturers may be a bit more expensive compared to generic brands but at least you have a guarantee that you are getting high quality melatonin. The additional price you pay is used for testing and quality control to ensure that you always get the best melatonin.

From the brands listed above, I have personally used NOW Melatonin at the usual dose of 3 mg. I take the capsule form because it is easier to swallow compared to the tablet form. I haven’t tried liquid melatonin or melatonin spray which are fast acting. Melatonin capsules takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour before it makes me sleepy.
