I have a grandson with ADHD, so I just want to tell these people whom have not experienced a child that won't sleep at night, don't judge until you have lived it.

My doctor recommended Melatonin - 5mg. I am also taking ibuprofen 800mg and a low dose (0.035) hormone replacement medication prescribed by the same physician. Should I be worried? Any known negative drug interactions with Melatonin and hormone replacement Meds?

for 4 years my daughter was sleep deprived and myself she would be awake from 0730 until 0500 the next day there wasn't nothing that i didnt try i was reluctant to put her on melatonin or anything else until i had exhausted all resources sleep patterns, positions and anythingelse people suggested. but the day finally came she had started school ...and since that first night , that first dose our life is now normal for the first time we both wake refreshed and more importantly go to bed when the moon is still up. my daughter is now almost 5 and is smart as a whip, she loves homework she can read 3rd grade readers and do division she loves headstart, and the kids love her.her behavior has changed for the better, she is now sassy and social, whereas before she was angry, violent and inappropriatly verbal.

my mom gave me a bottle of melatonin tabs that she had bought to help with jet lagg but had never opened it. i have always struggled with going to bed at a decent hour so started taking half a tablet....i have never slept so well and i dont feel groggy in the mornings and function great in the day as i am sleeping very well. i also suffer from depression and take prosac 20mg. i didnt know that melatonin could be used to treat depression til i read this but it certainly hasnt had any negative effects. i highly reccommend this as a sleep aid :)

I have had difficulty falling asleep for about ten years now. I ma 65. My doctor recommended melatonin and I first tried it three years ago. This coincided with sever gastric discomfort and diarrhoea that lasted five weeks. I did not connect the two at the time. I had just retired and was exhausted and there were some tummy bugs going round. I stopped taking the capsules. A few years later I tried it for two nights again and had the same reaction. I tried it this week February 2012 as I am desperate to sleep well and have had a very upset stomach for a few days now. Perhaps the 5mg dosage is too strong? Or am I too sensitive to it for some reason? The company who made this product is Nature's Bounty. Should I try a lesser dosage?

Would love to know the answer to this question. Since I've been taking it I have dug my skin raw (bleeding and scabby) on my head and chest. I scratch while I sleep sometimes, which is when it bleeds because I don't realize I'm doing it .

Ive been on melatonin for two months and I now am losing patches of hair. My blood results were normal for thyroid. I havent been able to find the cause bc I have extremely thick hair normally. Now Im thinking its the melatonin after seeing your post.

Ive had a similar effect as well. I started taking this a month ago and my face and neck completely broke out. My doctor has me now on antibiotics and cortisone to get the inflamation under control. I couldnt figure it out till just now when I saw this website.
